Who are they?

Domino recording company is a highly successful British independent record label founded in 1993 by Laurence Bell and Jacqui Rice. Started in a south London bedroom on a £40 enterprise allowance grant, it has grown into an international indie powerhouse with offices in London, Brooklyn, Berlin and Paris.

The label’s first release was the Sebadoh EP ‘Rocking The Forest’ licensed from Sub Pop records for release in the UK. During this time, Domino was releasing more established American Rock and unusual British music yet they there success was not immediate. Recent high profile releases from Anna Calvi, Arctic Monkeys, The Kills and Franz Ferdinand, have only acted as a catalyst towards making Domino the longest running and most successful independent record labels in the UK. The label also have branches in New York, France and Germany who each handle releases in their country.

Domino Recording Company’s first major breakthrough hit was “Natural One” by The Folk Implosion (the duo of Lou Barlow and John Davis) in 1995. This slinky, trip-hop-influenced track was the lead single from the cult-classic film soundtrack Kids and reached No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As a label, the company maintains a collaborative, artist -focused structure that manages its own catalog, merchandise, and diverse imprints. Making this company known world wide and working with some of the biggest artists out there at this moment in time and for the forceable future.
