SWOT Analysis

A SWOT analysis is a way of looking at something and breaking it down into four different areas like strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Its used a lot in media and marketing because it helps you understand what works well, what could be improved, and what things outside of your control could possibly impact your success. It makes you think more deeply about how effective something actually is. However, in this case this is looking at my skills as an A-level media student.

My SWOT analysis:

Strength, weakness, opportunity and threats

STRENGTHS–

. Strong narrative

.Time management, I will make plenty of time and allow plenty of time for makeup, hair, props, sets and even more

. Originality, everything will be me own original footage and photography, with experience of camera use fro me and members of my shooting team too

. Don’t need to rely on other members of a team to put in the same amount of effort as I am, I am very independant

. I can edit software and I enjoy having the chance to explore costume as well as lyrics and music patterns which I am very confident in

WEAKNESS-

. Money, even tho I have a source of income I will still have to have a limited budget

. Cast, finding a range of people could end up being an issue when filming my music video, however there will be a range of different classes presented.

. Not being able to have the best makeup or costumes available to me

. Having very limited sets available to me, travel may become an issue when it comes to the music video being shot

OPPORTUNITIES-

. Allows me to educate that audience, while I include messages and statistics as I start to film

. Allows me to develop knowledge on different areas like mental health, race, gender, sexuality and religion

. Develop photography, videoing and editing skills even further

. Learn how to apply costume, props and even apply makeup to fit the set and surroundings like the music and background movement

. Make a video that will catch the eye of the audience and add interest

THREATS-

. Copyright could end up being a potential threat, I will need to email the recording company in order to have permission to use their song and record name

. Weather, the weather could play a good or bad role depending on the scene, some scenes I need it to be cloud and rainy and others I will need sunny, so this could cause a potential threat to my shooting days

. Injury and people dropping out, people could get injured while filming or due to other causes, this could cause me to have to re-start or it could set me back a few weeks, this will be the same with illness.

. Me (the shooter and photographer) may fall ill setting us back once again
